Surfing in Callantsoog becomes even better with beach nourishment
Callantsoog – Since the start of the beach replenishment in Callantsoog, the first effects on the waves for wave surfing are already noticeable. The reclaimed beaches ensure better and longer-lasting wave formation.
The beach replenishment, in which 800,000 m3 of sand will be applied to the beach of Callantsoog, started in April and will continue until June 2023. The new sandbanks created by the nourishment ensure the formation of better waves and provide more opportunities for wave surfers.
“The waves are already noticeably better than before. It is really fantastic to see how the waves take better shape and stay longer”, says an enthusiastic local wave surfer.
In addition, the first effects on the transition from the reclaimed beach to the non-recreated beach can be noticed. Interesting waves are created here that wave surfers can make optimal use of.
In short, the beach replenishment in Callantsoog not only protects the coast, but also provides better waves for wave surfing and offers more options for water sports enthusiasts.
