Callantsoog is our home

The best wind conditions

The best wind condition to surf in Callantsoog is when there's offshore wind blowing from the east or northeast. Offshore winds create clean and organized waves by blowing against the face of the waves and smoothing out the surface.

Best tide conditions

The best tide to surf in Callantsoog is a rising tide. This is when the tide is transitioning from low to high tide. As the water level rises, it creates more energy in the waves and pushes them closer to the shore.

Current seawater temperature

The seawater temperature in Callantsoog is now 18.7°C. Wear a full wetsuit with a thickness of 3/2mm or a Shorty.

Surf weather forecast for Callantsoog

Monday, September 16, 2024
The wind turns to NNE and increases to 4-5 Bft at the coast in the afternoon, which causes wind waves and few real waves or swell. Late in the afternoon sets can reach a height of 1 meter, but the current and messy waves make surfing challenging. The outgoing tide (12:30 low tide) provides excellent conditions for beginners and surfing lessons in the morning. The best time for advanced surfers is later in the afternoon, despite the  wind and current. Sunrise: 07:14, sunset: 19:50.

Tuesday, September 17, 2024
There is a bit more swell coming in but with a north easterly direction so along the coast, still the waves can be hip high. The NE wind blows with 4 to 5 bft and increases in the evening to 5-6 Bft and causes chaos on the water. Although the wave height (80cm) is good, the waves will be very messy. Best chance for surfing is between 14:30 and 16:00 with rising tide (16:30 high tide). Sunrise: 07:16, sunset: 19:48.

Wednesday, September 18, 2024
The height of the waves decreases slightly to 60 cm. The wind becomes more favorable due to the decreased force (3-4 Bft). This gives  slightly better conditions, especially around high tide towards the end of the afternoon (14:00-17:00). This can produce mini surf in the early afternoon. Sunrise: 07:18, sunset: 19:46.

Thursday, September 19, 2024
Conditions will be calmer with a slightly lighter wind of 3-4 Bft from the northeast. Waves will remain around 50 cm, surfable for beginners and longboarders. High tide is late afternoon (double high tide at 17:00 and 21:00, which gives the best conditions from 15:00 to 17:00. Sunrise: 07:20, sunset: 19:44.

Friday September 20, 2024
The wind remains around 4 Bft from the northeast, with a wave height of 50 cm. The quality of the surf is less due to the decreasing height and NE direction. Sunrise: 07:22, sunset: 19:42.

Saturday September 21, 2024
Conditions remain the same as Friday.
